Terms of Service

1. The Service

Preps provides civil-services study tools, previous-year-question practice, question-scoped concept chat, progress features, and AI-assisted formative feedback on Mains answers. Features may change as the Service develops.

Preps is an independent educational product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the Union Public Service Commission or any government authority.

2. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of agreeing to these Terms. Some features require a Google-authenticated account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Google account and for activity performed through your Preps session.

Provide accurate information, do not impersonate another person, and notify us at nitin@preps.in if you believe your account has been compromised.

3. Educational and AI limitations

All content and feedback is provided for study and informational purposes. AI-generated concept-chat replies and evaluations may be incomplete, inconsistent, or incorrect and should be reviewed using your own judgment and authoritative sources.

Preps does not guarantee examination scores, selection, rank, academic outcomes, or that its feedback matches an official examiner’s assessment. The Service is not professional, legal, financial, medical, or career advice.

4. Your content

You retain any rights you hold in messages, answers, and files you submit. You grant Preps and its service providers a limited, non-exclusive permission to host, transmit, reproduce, and process that content solely to operate, secure, and provide the concept chat or evaluation you request.

You must have the right to submit the content and must not upload confidential personal records, unlawful material, malware, or content that infringes another person’s rights.

5. Acceptable use

You must not:

• Break the law or violate another person’s rights through the Service.
• Attempt to bypass access limits, authentication, or security controls.
• Probe, disrupt, overload, scrape at scale, or reverse engineer the Service except where the law expressly permits it.
• Use automated means to abuse AI capacity or interfere with other users.
• Misrepresent AI feedback as an official UPSC assessment.

6. Preps content and licence

The Service’s software, interface, branding, original explanations, evaluation guidance, and other original materials are owned by or licensed to Preps. Subject to these Terms, we give you a personal, limited, revocable, non-transferable licence to use the Service for lawful study purposes.

Third-party and public materials remain subject to their respective rights and notices.

7. Third-party services

The Service relies on third parties including Google, Supabase, Cloudflare, and OpenAI. Their services may have separate terms, privacy practices, interruptions, or limitations. Preps is not responsible for third-party services outside its reasonable control.

8. Availability and changes

We may add, modify, limit, suspend, or discontinue features, including free-use limits, to maintain or improve the Service. We do not promise uninterrupted or error-free availability. Where practical, we will communicate material changes that significantly affect users.

9. Suspension and termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may restrict or terminate access where reasonably necessary to address abuse, security risk, legal obligations, prolonged inactivity, or a material breach of these Terms. You may request account deletion by emailing nitin@preps.in.

10. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. We disclaim implied warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, non-infringement, and uninterrupted availability. Nothing in these Terms excludes a warranty or right that cannot lawfully be excluded.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Preps will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive loss, or for loss of data, opportunity, examination outcome, profits, or goodwill arising from use of the Service. Our aggregate liability for claims relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid Preps for the affected Service during the preceding 12 months.

These limits do not apply where liability cannot lawfully be limited or excluded.

12. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Before starting formal proceedings, you agree to contact us and try in good faith to resolve the dispute informally. Any unresolved dispute will be subject to the courts having competent jurisdiction under applicable law.

13. Changes and contact

We may update these Terms as the Service changes. The revised terms will show a new “Last updated” date. If a change materially affects your rights, we will provide additional notice where required.
